The fortunes of the stunning riverside villages of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo are so intertwined that they are known collectively as Newton and Noss. They are in a magical setting on the wooded slopes of the estuary of the River Yealm and, as you would expect, life here revolves around the water.
This sheltered harbour is much favoured by kayakers, paddle-boarders and sailing enthusiasts and lies within a truly beautiful valley in the unspoilt South Hams countryside, an area of outstanding natural beauty and a Special Area of Conservation. Across the two villages, on opposite sides of Newton creek, you will find a store, Post Office, three pubs and quaint tea rooms.
The Grade II listed village hall, which is in Noss Mayo, was originally built as a chapel and it hosts classes and events as well as being licensed for weddings.
Property here is in high demand and ranges from large modern homes to properties that are ideal as holiday homes.
