Ivybridge

With Exeter 35 miles away and Plymouth around ten miles away, Ivybridge sits just off the A38 on the southern edge of Dartmoor, and is a bustling town with excellent facilities for families and a thriving community spirit.

The River Erme which runs through the town helped to power several mills in the 18th and 19th centuries processing paper, tin and corn, and the railway’s arrival helped the community to prosper. Today’s Ivybridge is less dependent on industry and is more family-orientated, offering first-class amenities and direct access to the countryside and moorland. They call Ivybridge The Gateway to the Moor with miles of magnificent walking trails leading out of the town including the Two Moors Way.

They’re a sporty lot here – Ivybridge Community College has a Rugby Academy which has produced a number of professional players including several at Exeter Chiefs. The college is also a centre of excellence for other sports. The town has two leisure centres with swimming pools, fitness suites and classes. There is enough enthusiasm in Ivybridge to support thriving rugby club with a set up to cater for all ages, a state-of-the-art 4G pitch, and friendly club house with facilities for both match day & private events. There is also a football, cricket and tennis club. At nearby Wrangaton there is the 18-hole golf course with views of the beautiful Ugborough Beacon.
